“One Day I Wrote Her Name Upon The Strand” Good Love Poems
One day I wrote her name upon the strand,
But came the waves and washed it away:
Again I wrote it with a second hand,
But came the tide, and made my pains his prey.
Vain man, said she, that dost in vain assay
A mortal thing so to immortalize!
For I myself shall like to this decay,
And eek my name be wiped out likewise.
Not so (quoth I), let baser things devise
To die in dust, but you shall live by fame:
My verse your virtues rare shall eternize,
And in the heavens write your glorious name;
Where, whenas death shall all the world subdue,
Our love shall live, and later life renew.
Edmund Spenser
“The Fight” Good Love Poems
I can’t eat, I can’t sleep
I think about you day and night
Why can’t I ever learn
That you will be alright, Ever since the fight
I wish I could hold you tight
I thought you were the one
I thought you were my boo
But now I know that could never be true
You told me that you loved me
You said you wouldn’t lie
You said you wouldn’t go out
The night that you got high
You went to that party
Although you said you wouldn’t
You tried to drive home
Though you were so drunk that you couldn’t
I wish that you were alive
So that I could tell you one more time
That I love you and goodbye
